Davidson, North Carolina is on the county line for Iredell and Mecklenburg County though the city is actually in Mecklenburg. The city is home to less than 10,000 residents. Davidson was founded in 1837. The city was named after General William Lee Davidson, a hero in the Revolutionary War. The city was formed when Davidson College was formed. Today, Davidson College is still an important part of the city and is more prestigious than ever before.
NASCAR fans are probably familiar with the town of Davidson because a number of famous NASCAR individuals live in the area. Reed Sorenson, Todd Bodine, David Stremme, and Denny Hamlin all live in Davidson, as well as famous NASCAR journalist, Lee Spencer.
